The volume of gold transferred in April increased by 9.4% month on month (m/m) to 20.5 mn ounces, with the corresponding value transferred up 14.4% m/m to $41.0 bn. There were 4,715 transfers, 1.7% lower m/m, with the clearers settling on average 4,343 ounces per transfer, 11.3% higher m/m.

For silver, the volume of ounces transferred decreased by 1.3% m/m to 298.4 mn ounces, with the corresponding value transferred up 12.5% m/m to $7.5 bn. The number of transfers increased by 33.5% m/m to 2,455, with the clearers settling on average 121,548 ounces per transfer, 26.1% lower m/m.

The average gold/silver price ratio in April was down to 80.0 from 87.3 in March.
