The volume of gold transferred in May decreased by 7.3% month on month (m/m) to 19.0 mn ounces, with the corresponding value transferred down 7.8% m/m to $37.8 bn. There were 4,963 transfers, 5.3% higher m/m, with the clearers settling on average 3,824 ounces per transfer, 11.9% lower m/m.

Daily Averages Silver Clearing Data - May 2023

For silver, the volume of ounces transferred decreased by 18.5% m/m to 243.3 mn ounces, with the corresponding value transferred down 21.2% m/m to $5.9 bn. The number of transfers decreased by 22.0% m/m to 1,914, with the clearers settling on average 127,106 ounces per transfer, 4.6% higher m/m.

The average gold/silver price ratio in May was up to 82.4 from 80.0 in April.
